Field manual
Motion sickness setup
Beta players reported real nausea — "a lot of involuntary camera movement", harsh contrast lighting, and smeary DLSS foliage ("This game is nauseating" thread). These settings exist in the menu and target exactly those triggers.
Set these first
| Setting | Where | Set to | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camera Motion | Gameplay | Off | Kills head-bob/sway — the #1 involuntary-motion trigger |
| Motion Blur | Post-processing | Off | Blur during pans is a classic nausea driver |
| Field of View | Gameplay | Raise it (beta guides ran 103) | Narrow FOV amplifies motion sickness for most people |
| FOV in ADS | Gameplay | ≈75 | Softens the zoom-lurch when aiming |
| Film Grain | Post-processing | Off | Reduces visual noise/shimmer |
| Upscaler (DLSS/TSR) | Video | Prefer quality mode or native | Beta reports of foliage smearing into "oil paint" at low scales |
Menu options documented from the beta build (settings screenshots); trigger reports from beta players. Exact FOV slider limits aren't public — we'll publish them from the launch build.
If it persists
- Cap your framerate at a value your GPU holds steadily — fluctuating frametimes feel worse than a lower stable cap.
- Take the helicopter and mortar roles gently at first: rotor sway and scope-in shake are the roughest motions in the game. (Helicopter controls →)
- Standard advice applies: breaks every 45–60 min, distant focal point, don't play tired-hungry-dehydrated.
Gear that can help
The settings above fix most of it. If you've set all four and still feel it, an acupressure or anti-nausea wristband is the next thing worth trying — the same category people use for car/sea sickness. Neither of these is HLL: Vietnam-specific gear; they're general motion-sickness aids, picked by rating and review volume, not something we've tested against this game ourselves.
| Option | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sea-Band acupressure wristband | Drug-free pressure-point band, reusable, no batteries. Amazon's own "Overall Pick" in this category (30K+ ratings). | ~$9 |
| EmeTerm Explore Classic | FDA-cleared rechargeable electric-stimulation band, for if acupressure alone isn't enough. | ~$120 |
